    Central Texas is full of springs, lakes, and creeks to splash around in, and we’ve listed some of our favorites below.

    1 Barton Springs Natural Pool

    Cool, clear, and teeming with life, this 1,100 foot-long spring-fed pool is one of the largest non-chlorinated swimming pools in the country. The pool is on average 68 degrees year round. Limited lifeguard staff on duty, swim at your own risk

    Blue Hole has long been a destination in the Texas Hill Country for swimming, camping, and enjoying nature along spring-fed Cypress Creek. No lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk.

    4 Emma Long Metropolitan Park on Lake Austin

    Features include: 2 boat ramps, 2 sand volleyball courts, and 3 sets of volleyball standards. No lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk.

    5 Hamilton Pooll

    Located 3/4 mile upstream from its confluence with the Pedernales River, Hamilton Creek spills out over limestone outcroppings to create a 50 foot waterfall as it plunges into the head of a steep box canyon. No lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk.

    6 Krause Springs

    Located in Spicewood, Texas approximately 30 miles west of Austin. There are 32 springs on the property, and several feed the manmade pool and the natural pool which flows into Lake Travis. No lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk.

    7 Sculpture Falls on Barton Creek
    S. Mopac Expressway and Loop-360, Austin

    Located 1.3 miles upstream of the Mopac bridge, this out-and-back hike begins midway along the Barton Creek Greenbelt. Leave the busy Twin Falls/Gaines Access and head upstream, passing Twin Falls before reaching Sculpture Falls. The deep pools by both falls make for alluring swimming holes. No lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk.

    8 Twin Falls on Barton Creek
    S. Mopac Expressway and Loop-360, Austin

    Located about half a mile upstream of the Mopac bridge, this out-and-back hike begins midway along the Barton Creek Greenbelt. A nice little swimming hole and a couple of small waterfalls. No lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk.
